Aim:
The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:

  • Be able to operate machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice.
  • Use ancillary attachments.
  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
  • Be able to operate safely under varying site conditions.
  • Be able to load and unload difficult shaped loads from vehicles.
  • Set stabilisers correctly – have machine stable and level.
  • Be able to carry out minor adjustments and routine service.
  • Understand the causes of instability of truck and load.
  • Have an understanding of responsibilities under current relevant legislation.

Method of Training
Highly participative, with practical demonstrations highlighted by use of Powerpoint and Videos along with group and individual exercises.

Duration: 1 or 2.5 or 5 days depending upon experience. These courses meet the requirements of Approved Code of Practice for Rider Operated Lift Trucks: Operator Training.
Funding: Eligible companies may be able to claim grants toward their Training as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
