Aim:
The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:

• Have an understanding of statutory duties under the above act, other legal responsibilities and to gain skills and knowledge to fulfil the duties required by the Roads and Streets Works Act 1991.

Trainee Specification:
All personnel required to undertake excavation and reinstatement of Highways – Operators
All personnel required to monitoring excavation and reinstatement of Highways – Supervisors

• Excavation techniques
• Disposal of surplus material
• Repositioning of kerbs, edgings
• Use of cable location equipment
• Support to utilities apparatus
• Use of temporary traffic lights
• Implication of damage to apparatus
• Signs, cones and barriers layout
• Surface finishing
• Re-use of selected excavated material

Method of Training
Highly participative, with practical demonstrations highlighted by use of Powerpoint and Videos along with group and individual exercises.
