Aim:
The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:
- Form a safe system of work for the operation
- Have an understanding of responsibilities under current legislation and codes of practice
- Identify hazards and associated risks involved when entering confined spaces
- Implement control measures such as ventilation and gas detection to eliminate potential risks
- Select, inspect, use and respond to appropriate gas detection
- Have the ability to interpret results of the gas detector readings and know what action to take
- Understand the significance of, and work to, entry permits and safe working procedures
- Implement emergency procedures
- Inspect, clean and issue escape breathing apparatus
- Work as a member of a team
Trainee Specification: Personnel involved in planning, supervising and/or execution of work resulting in entry to confined
spaces. The practical aspects of this course require the candidate to have a reasonable level of fitness.

Method of Training
Highly participative, with demonstrations highlighted by use of Powerpoint and Videos along with group and individual exercises.
